Lawns on the Metro's Southern Edge
Hydroseeding in Rosemount usually happens on land that was farmed until recently. Rosemount was organized in 1858 as one of Dakota County's first 17 townships, and many of its original settlers were Irish Catholics. It sits on the southern edge of the Twin Cities area. New neighborhoods have been spreading onto that ground, and each one needs new lawns, sediment control and grading.
War plant to research fields
During World War II, Rosemount was home to the Gopher Ordnance Works, which made smokeless powder. In 1947 the University of Minnesota took over part of that land for agricultural research, now known as UMore Park. Large tracts that stayed open for decades are the kind of ground that gets developed in big phases, with wide graded areas that need seeding fast.
Large graded areas
When a whole phase of a subdivision is graded at once, wind and rain can move a lot of soil before houses go up. Commercial hydroseeding with hydromulch gives temporary cover on those areas quickly, and silt fence along the perimeter keeps sediment off streets and out of ponds.
Open, windy lots
Rosemount sits around 965 feet in elevation, on open former farmland with few trees on newer streets. Full sun and steady wind dry a seedbed quickly. We use a full mulch rate and a watering plan matched to that exposure.
Roads with history
Dodd Road, one of Minnesota's earliest roads, was started in 1853 and ran through western Rosemount. Older farmsteads and roadside lots along these corridors sometimes need regrading where ditches and driveways have shifted water over the years.

Rosemount Questions
Can you give fast temporary cover on a newly graded subdivision phase?
Yes. Hydromulch with seed covers large graded areas quickly, and silt fence holds the perimeter.
Our new lot has no trees and gets a lot of wind. Will seed dry out?
It can. We use a full mulch rate and give you a watering plan built for open, windy lots.
We live on an older farmstead lot. Can you fix drainage before seeding?
Yes. We regrade around the house and driveway and, where needed, trench for drain tile.
Do you seed both turf and native grass on larger lots?
Yes. Many larger lots get turf near the house and a lower-maintenance native mix farther out.
